1500mm Modern Baths
What defines a modern bath?
A luxury modern bath can be anything from flamboyant and colourful to clean and understated. It is made from high-quality materials such as acrylic, stone, and resin, and its texture is typically matte or polished. Some of the most popular elements of a modern bath include minimalist designs, state-of-the-art fixtures and quality craftsmanship. Nôsa’s modern baths feature sleek, straight lines, and contemporary silhouettes. They are also adorned with an array of finishes to complement the modern bathroom.
Are modern baths durable?
Yes, modern baths are exceptionally durable when properly maintained. Nôsa’s acrylic baths are highly resistant to cracks, as they are backed by fibreglass, which absorbs the kinetic energy of dropped objects. Their construction makes them lighter than solid stone alternatives, which can make the installation simpler without compromising on strength. The resin material in many modern transparent bathtubs is highly durable and scratch-resistant and has strong heat retention properties. Our unique natural stone resin, a testament to our commitment to quality, is resilient to chipping, scratching, and general wear, ensuring that your bath remains pristine for many years.
How do modern baths differ from traditional baths?
Traditional baths are more defined by clean lines and white rectangular forms. Our modern baths feature more contemporary aesthetics, such as:
- Matte and polished finishes
- Curved shapes
- A wider range of colours
- Minimalist designs crafted by cutting-edge technology, including fluted styles
You also have the choice of freestanding, back-to-wall, and corner baths.
How do I choose the right modern bath?
Your choice of modern bath will depend on numerous factors, including weight, heat retention, and your personal design preferences. For instance, stone resin is far heavier than acrylic. Nôsa’s stone resin bathtubs weigh upwards of 100kg, whereas our acrylic baths weigh around 50kg to 60kg. If you’re looking for a quick, easy installation, acrylic is the clear winner. But if you want superior durability, longer heat retention, and a more luxurious, solid feel, go for stone. Resin baths also have superior heat retention properties, which are particularly desirable for spa-like settings.
You can choose from a range of bright colours with clear resin bathtubs, whereas our modern stone baths tend to have more minimalist matt and polished white finishes.
How do I maintain a modern bath?
If your modern bath is made from acrylic, this is more sensitive to scratching than resin and stone, as it’s a softer surface. That’s why you should clean your modern acrylic bath using a non-abrasive cleaning product such as liquid dish soap or a 50/50 mix of water and white vinegar spray — and potentially baking soda powder for tougher stains. You should apply this product using a lint-free microfibre cloth as opposed to anything bristled.
Transparent resin baths should be cleaned more frequently, as water spots and soap scum show up faster on their surface than on an opaque bath. We recommend a thorough deep clean around once a week, or possibly slightly more frequently depending on usage.
For stone baths, similar advice applies. Regular cleaning with a mild, pH-balanced cleaner is best for natural stone. To avoid having to reseal the surface regularly, avoid using abrasive cleaners, sponges, or harsh chemicals on the bathtub. You can wipe down the surface of your bathtub with a soft cloth to minimise mineral deposits and prevent dirt buildup from forming. You should avoid sharp objects entering the bath to prevent scratches on the stone's surface.
For more information, check out our cleaning and care guide. (Please ignore the point about the sanding pad if you’re thinking of buying a resin bath, as all of our transparent resin baths have a polished finish).
Are modern baths comfortable?
Yes. Whichever of our modern baths you opt for, you’re picking a product that’s been meticulously crafted with comfort in mind. If you choose acrylic, you get a smooth, inviting surface and low thermal conductivity, meaning the hot water from the tap is kept in the tub for longer. This allows for long soaks without the need to constantly top up with hot water. If you choose stone, you get soft curves to support your back, eliminating the stiff, awkward seating positions in standard straight-sided bathtubs. The smooth finish of our modern stone baths feels wonderful under the skin and will help you unwind after a long day.
Are modern baths suitable for small bathrooms?
Although our modern baths are best suited to grand master bathrooms, they can work in smaller spaces as well. Our contemporary bath collection includes statement designs starting from 1500mm, such as the sophisticated Vermont Stone Bath.
Which taps best suit a modern bath?
Our contemporary bath taps pair perfectly with the ergonomic, sleek designs of modern baths. Choose from wall-mounted or floor-standing bath taps in modern finishes such as matte black, brushed gold, or classic chrome.
